Photos will be up leter as they take ages to upload and photos of the final model and drawing will be up in a couple of days cause i forgot to photograph them be fore i took them into crit space
the design is based on material, brick, and the lighting effects, viewing effects and experience it can create. brick once put together becomes sort of grid like like my precedent study.  in my last two projects i used the idea of kinda framing as my precedent study was focused on nature and through its materials was aimed at framing nature. i have brought this element and idea into this weeks project but instead of using glass like my precedent study to frame nature i have create diffently postioned bricks to give a different viewing and faming effect. the first thing i started doing was chosing a site. i chose a site very near my gathering project. its on the hill park walkway next the old railway hotel. i chose this site becase i wanted my design to contend with the ground and also to link with my previos projects as they were concerned with its surroundinds such as the gathering project which builds into the surroundin buildings.i have been thinking about how my deisgn will work on a hill - will it fit into it, onto it, under it  and how it will contend with the existing objects such as trees and the walk way. then i experimenting with positioning with bricks. here are some examples that i managed to come up with:

some worked out really well, they look asthetically pleasing aswell as create cool effects however some didnt work so well. after experimenting with different arrangments and mashing up of some of these brick pieces, i have come up with a basic design and form for my office. i let they brick work and arrangement of bricks inform the form of the design as i believethis allows the building to have the unque experience you whilst a good form may be produced from it as opposed to making a form and trying to create effects in the form which may just not allow for a amazing experience, it would feel less natural and more forced. after getting the basic first part of my office coming together, the rest of the form just kind of followed. a made a afew tweaks and developmnts to it to come up with my final design. i would have liked to have more time as there is soo much more i could have done to develop and improve the design but i had to have the design finalised by wed so i can get my model and section done by friday. My design consists of 5 areas, one for each archiect to work in, a storage room, toilets and a smoko room area. there is a room  at the back around the stairs which is for storage but this is not shown in my model as there was not enough time to make it however it is shown in my section. i wanted my dsign to be something sort of different as people working in it would be architects so it would make a sort of creative and inspirational kind of environment.

i talked to a tutor on the first day and pritty much got told to put my laser cutting project into my augmented project. i tried to work with it but it just didnt feel right. i think i should be taking elements or ideas from the projects not simply physically mashing them cause this does not create a office that i would want to be in and some of the ideas of my projects dont work once they are smushed together. i talked to the tutor again and we decided i should change my site and work with and into a hill and to forget about the other design and start fresh and let the brick work and ideas inform my office and space which i knida where i feel i should have been going from the start. its tuesday and i finally kinda have a design, not fully yet tho and hopefully the tutors like it tomorow or im screwed and will have to run with it anyway since there not time left to design the office cause i have to get onto presenting it and the matrix. i like what i have now better that what i did have and i feel like its a place where i would actually like to work in.

This week were ment to be developing our offices but since my group did stuff a little differently, ill me mashing up my augmented project and tram station to create a office. i have to make a small 1:20 detail and a A1 section.

first thing ive been looking at and will experience is the bricks from my tram station and different sufaces it can create aspecialy curved.

Peer review crit 4 - Gifting, animation

Sean (Kibeom) Park:

One thing that i found very intrestin and liked about seans design was the fact that he used no doors. This created more unique areas and transition spaces. The animation and the A1 piece of paper blew me away because of the quality and amount of work done. It demonstrated that he had done alot thinking and reserch, concepts and development. One thing that i noticed about his work which was very different that most others was the fact that his was very structured, formal, clean and precise where as everyone else was a bit sort of like artistically expresive with things like colour and medium - paint ect which is maby is something he could have tried which may have improved the end result and design but overal i like what he done as i think it worked out very well for him.

Halen (Haorong) Chen:

Halens word was Kirkostructa which means a "building in a cylindrical form. It differs from most contemporary structures of that shape - arenas and stadiums, often at a large scale, roofless. This type of building will be smaller and much more versatile". She has used this word to influence her design.
her animation was easy to understand which helped me grasp the concept of her design. she encorprated elements such as a rooftop garden as one of the clients was a landscaper. I like that she has taken into consideration her clients and who will be inhabiting the building and how she meet these peoples needs, wants and intrests. The design also provides vast 360 views which creats a openess and unconfined feel to her design.

 Lauren Collins:

i like the fact that lauren got real messing with the paper. It helped me to understand and to link to the previos project which she was incorperating into this design. I think it was really good how she was interacting with the animation like how it showed her dragging elements on the page together to form her design. A down side to her animation was that it had a long period of nothingness at the end till the music ended which is understandable cause some of the software is hard to use especially when you dont have long to learn how to use it. its good she considered light, flow, site. The page consisted mainly of a floor plans, it would have helped me to understand and visualise the design better if there were some more 3-D, elevation and section drawings of the design casue i found it kinda hard to see how the  quite squiglyish wall design would look as a structure/from the side/in 3D

This is my model on the  site. The sitemodel thing is pritty sad looking but thats all i could get donein the time ihad. i dont really want to present this but it helps to give peole a basic/ better understanding of my designin relation to other stuff. i made a few trees to put on it so hopefully that will make it look slightly better andgive abitmoresenseofheight. i had to paper mache of the contour model i made cause i couldnt make a new one and this one i had was really messy and dirty from makingmy model on it and so paper machewas the quickest easiest way icouldcover it up and i didnt have any other materials to use or that i could get in the middle of the night. Since i gottold tomake the site model huge to include the road and church,i madeanadditional sitemodel piece and paper machedthat too so it would match the other one. it didnt look to bad until it dried and the pencil onit probly wasnt the best option but its plain andsimple so people can focus on the tram stop model. It hasnt been the best week due to this last minuet rush to getheaps of work done but i liked the laser cutting. The people on upper queen street are really good and nice and this has probly been one of the most helpful workshops.
My model tookway longerto make than i expected so ive kind of runshort on time to make a goodsite model and completed matrix. I had a few issues with makingthe model. I forgot to consider how much wider the papermache and laser cut pieces would make it and so some of the passage ways seem very narrow which wasnt helped by the model kind of warping with wet paper mache. It was hard to keep it in the right position so it would dry out right but i managed to get all the holes in the model fairly alighned. You can look through them and actually see through out the other end.
